Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Practice Test

Access for PREA compliance must go to the person coordinating the program across the department. The PREA Coordinator is charged with developing, implementing, and overseeing all PREA activities, so they need unrestricted access to facilities, records, equipment, and staff to assess adherence, review documentation, observe practices, and drive corrective actions. An auditor may access facilities and records during a review, but their access is temporary and for auditing purposes. The Warden oversees operations but is not the designated central PREA leader with ongoing, comprehensive access. Compliance managers support the program, but the formal, full-access role is assigned to the PREA Coordinator to ensure consistent oversight and accountability.
